Hot Creek Natural Sulfur Springs (1 of 2)

9/8 morning Today was a rest day - we wanted to take a day off before our 100 mile ride. We had to make our way up to Mammoth, but we had 2 stops to make along the way.

First, we wanted to find a hot spring to bathe in. I had heard of one where sulfur hot springs bubble into a cool creek and make a perfect mixture. We found it was just south of Mammoth - perfectly on the way!

We drove up and put on our suits in the car and headed for the trail to the springs. That park service had posted signs that swimming was forbidden due to increased thermic activity. The creek was entirely fenced off. Bummer! (continued on the Devils Postpile page)
